Sandhill Cranes-Original Pencil Sketch, Called, ” Legs Up “

Those sweet sandhill cranes on November 1ST, were faced with incredible weather conditions, using around Thanksgiving Day, November 27, the sandhill cranes lift off for their wintering home in the south, due to very cold and heavy snows. This past November was very different and we experienced very cold temperatures, on November 1ST, I was visiting Crex Meadows Wildlife Area at Phantom Lake and the extreme below zero temperatures froze the lake solid and there standing on the ice were 4,000 sandhill cranes. The atmosphere that morning was full of moisture or fog making the sky a pure white color and the -4 degrees below zero, about have of the sandhill cranes pulled their legs up under their body to keep them from freezing. The usual temperatures for this time of year are 25-30 degrees above zero, so usually they do not stay when these very harsh temperatures are reached. IN today’s original pencil sketch one of the sandhill cranes displays his legs out behind him and the other sandhill crane has his legs tucked up under his body to keep warm. This original sketch is called, ” Legs Up ” and I am willing to paint an original oil painting of this sketch. If you buy this original oil painting you also receive this original pencil sketch, my thanks for buying my oil painting. At the bottom of this note is my FASO WEbsite you can contact me to pursue this painting, thank you in advance. Visit my WordPress blog daily to check for new original sketches, all will be unique and new, no repeats. Best wishes,

Each fall brings a bounty of sandhill cranes to Crex Meadows Wildlife Area and this year was no different. Sandhill Cranes Sunrise-10-2014-JES

Sunrise in the wild is one of the most beautiful times in the day, it signifies the beginning of a new day with new hope. Something about starting fresh, these sandhill cranes are early risers too, and in late October there is close to 25,000 sandhill cranes in Crex Meadows Wildlife Area. This year our fall weather was unpredictable , in October we had 2 1/2″ of wet snow did not stay, but is an indication of things to come. A week ago today on Nov 10TH we had over 15″ of very heavy and wet snow and we have already been below zero. Last year our first deep snow fall was on Nov 27. Welcome to NW WI, stay tuned will not be like watching cartoons, however, my studio is a warm and friendly haven from the harsh winter weather and I am going to paint sandhill and whooping cranes all winter. Art sales are very special and if you like to view and or purchase on my website here is my address: http://www.jimspringett.com and you can check on eBay too. While these paintings are not commissions I do special paintings as requested, check out my step by step commission process on my FASO website and if you have that special image you’d love and original oil painting, please inquire. With hope,

” Titled, ” Rising Moon “

 Sandhill Cranes-2-Crex-11-2-2014-JES

September, October and November have such beautiful Harvest Moons and this was on November 2 with the moon going to a full moon on November 6th. I could have painted a full moon yet there was a uniqueness in the moon being asymmetric, especially with the sandhill cranes flying past. The scale of the sandhill cranes is definitely a miniature size and by painting on a 9″ x 12″ stretched canvas in a miniature scale, this gives me a new genre and I’ll be able to paint a decent background and create an interesting story. My larger scale 9×12 and 11×14 show mostly my bird but not much room for an interesting background, so this is called a “hybrid miniature” painting and starts today. I’ll be using both stretched canvas and Masonite hard board for my supports and no framing. If you enjoy bidding try my eBay Shop, if you like a fixed price try my ETSY Shop. This painting is to be listed on my eBay Shop today for 7 days, if you like check it out, thank you for your consideration, please check weekly as I paint new original oil paintings. Many thanks!

If you are new to my WordPress and want to make suggestions, please send your query or comment. Sandhill cranes and whooping cranes have been my main focus this year and as 2015 approaches will consider new subjects.  With hope,

Best wishes,

Titled, ” Momma, Papa, Baby ” Sandhill Cranes in Crex meadows

With each year the fall migration in our area is spectacular, and in North America we have 15,000 sandhill cranes gathering in Crex, and about Thanksgiving they start their migration to TN, AL, and FL, returning the following spring in March and April.

In this original oil painting on a 9x12x3/4 stretched canvas, the wrap around sides are painted so you do not need to frame your painting and looks good and will balance in your room. This is a colorful landscape in Crex Meadows in September as this sandhill crane family is leaving to find the surrounding corn fields in the area outside Crex. The last bird on the right is the juvenile sandhill with an auburn colored crown and not the deep red scarlet like the adult birds, next spring after molting the juvenile will take on the deep red color in their cap too.

Operation Migration-Sept 13,2014-Whooping Crane Festival

Whooping Crane 10-10-#1-F-2014-JES

This is a recent original oil painting of whooping crane 10-10 and her sandhill crane friends near the Trade River, called, ” Early Morning Sunshine On Trade River ” a 9″ x 12″ x 1/8″ on Masonite hard board, finished in a custom frame. I am doing a new body of whooping crane paintings for this year’s Whooping Crane Festival on  Saturday, September 13, 2014 located in Princeton, WI next to the public school. I have painted 3 original oil paintings and gifted to Operation Migration and they are going to auction these painting during the Festival, and the money will help with the costs to fly the ultra-light aircraft to St Marks, FL with this year’s Class of 2014 whooping crane juvenile birds starting about mid October.

If you can attend this year’s program and make contributions to help, this would be wonderful and help them a great deal. If you go on Operation Migration on their Face Book page you can read more about this year’s Festival, and soon they will start to list the auction items that you might enjoy bidding on. Have a great day and help to save a whooping crane, Jimmie Springett wildlife painter

A Little Boy Named Mason

Every year our community thinks about ways to beautify and make the community nicer, but this past year a young 9 year old boy named Mason Getts is dreaming about the day when Webster, WI can build a new children’s playground.  Can you imagine for a moment a young 9 year old boy thinking about and then with the help of our Village of Webster Board and community we are steadily working to help Mason and his dream.

So this month, December, the month of Christmas preparations and giving I am painting and listing my work on eBay and starting the bids at $0.99 and no reserves jsyt let this all be the way God intends and not worry about a thing and while God has given me breath and strength and a new day I can pant another and another and another for Mason and his program. All the proceeds for each sale go 100% to Mason’s new playground. The painting on eBay with two sandhill cranes is called ” Summer Skies and Dreams Come True ” finishes today at 7PM CST and the second painting just started last night called, ” Christmas Blessings ” has new bids already too, so a lot of loving people amidst us and many thanks.

What makes a Painting?

Ever wonder why a painting speaks to you, you do not know the artists and yet the work is wonderful. Go with it, appreciation is heart felt and a part of who we are. I am very grateful to be painting today at this time.

I think art is a very special medium and one thing as a painter I love color and that translates for me to a way of seeing, a way of loving my subjects for people and sharing that love, color is love. Awesome, my color is love, kindness, and peace..

These four paintings are unique and as you view can you say how they appear, what do you think, they are small 5″ x 7″ and 9″ x 12″ with a lot of thought going into each one.

Peace and may your days be bright and happy. If I can paint for you let me know. I paint wildlife because I love all the birds and animals with all my being and God’s creation is meant to be honored just like people, animals teach me greatly.
