” Sandhill Symmetry ” From Crex Meadows Wildlife Area

For those of you who follow my FASO website and blogs you probably know that I spend a lot of time in Crex Meadows studying the sandhill cranes. Each year they gather in Crex and this year we have about 25,000 birds, they usually stay as long as the standing water is open, and when we get our first real winter snow and cold usually about Thanksgiving Day, they start to migrate south toward TN, AL, and FL. They do stop in IN for a while making their journey less stressful, migrating as you might not know is very strenuous work for these birds, as the upper level winds can play games and flying as you know is no game and is very dangerous even with experienced birds who fly south each fall.

This original oil painting is available on ETSY, my ETSY shop name is jimmyspringett (all one word lower case) and a special if purchased before Christmas the Shipping is Free! I have smaller oil paintings on ETSY too, so while you sop check them out.

Have a very good day, many thanks,

Best wishes,
