You have captured my essence in your moose painting, “can you hear me now,”….I do have my antlers/ears open! And you got the beard just right!! Humans could argue that animals are not as smart as humans, although it is undeniably true that some humans are incredibly stupid, include me over much of my life. I learn everything the hard way. While the animals are also burdened under the results of the Fall, they live by survival of the fittest until such time as the Lord restores the earth to Peace and Harmony. At least we should give them some credit for not arming themselves and setting out to destroy one another! I’m no pantheist, so mankind, created in the image of God is assigned a higher place and a higher accountability than the animals. But it is no less true that mankind can learn from the animals. In terms of animal planning, hard work, and perseverance to their goal of survival under difficult conditions, we can only admire many of their attributes. And of course like the flowers their natural beauty is magnificent. I imagine they spend a lot of their free time watching and observing humans bicycling, hiking, hunting, taking photos and doing paintings of them, philosophizing about our quirky habits and rituals and trying to figure out what we might be thinking. Or debating whether or not we can communicate or think at all!
